The Admission is purely based on merit of 10th marks.. Inspite of other Government reservations there are 70% Rural quota and 50% Sikh minority quota based on Sikh religious test (SRE) conducted by SGPC.
In the institution, overall 70% seats shall be filled by the students hailing from rural area in Punjab. Rural area means area located outside the limits of Municipal Corporation, Municipal Committee, Notified Area Committee, Cantonment Board, Township & University campus. A student hailing from rural area means:
(i) His/her parents are permanently residing in the rural area as defined above.
(ii) He/She has studied for a minimum period of 3 years from a recognized/affiliated school located in rural area.
(iii). He/She has passed 5th/8th /10th or 10+2 from a school/college located in rural area. Sons/ Daughters of defense personnel / Ex-defense personnel residing permanently in rural area are exempted from clause (i) & (ii).
Note: Candidates seeking admission under Rural Category should fill the Form No.11 given in the Board prospectus.
In the Institution, 50% seats are exclusively reserved for the members of the Sikh minority community and the student should clear the Sikh Minority Test conducted by the SGPC, Sri Amritsar.

Any change in the fee structure shall be notified at the time of counseling. The students of SC/ST category of Punjab shall pay only Rs 1133/- at the time of admission, subject to the condition that family annual income is less than Rs. 2,50,000 ! Refundable Security 500 ! Such students shall not pay any other semester fee at the institute through out the duration of the course, but are required to pay the examination charges from time to time. Incase a candidate not having the proof of the income shall pay the fee as per other categories
A student who drops out or leaves the studies during a semester can seek re-admission at the start of the semester if if the period of absence is not more than two years. The period of two years shall be counted from the commencement of that semester in which he/she had left & not from the date on which the student left the institution.
The student who has been debarred by the competent authority from appearing in the State Board Examination will be governed by the relevant order in the matter.
